What moves, which way
Every payment matched to an order, and every refund to a payment. Each kind of data has one system of record, so nothing gets overwritten.

How we connect it
- 01ConnectionOrders are confirmed from the provider's webhook, never from the browser, so a closed tab can't lose a paid order.
- 02OwnershipStrong customer authentication (3-D Secure) handled for European cards.
- 03TraceabilityDaily settlement files are matched to orders, so finance sees fees and payouts per order.
When something fails
Integrations fail in predictable ways. These four rules keep a failure from reaching a customer.
Queued
Every change travels as an event on a queue, so nothing waits on a slow or offline system.
Phase 1 of 4
Safe to retry
Each message carries an ID, so a retry never creates a duplicate order or double stock movement.
Phase 2 of 4
Visible
Messages that keep failing move aside and alert a named engineer, with the reason attached.
Phase 3 of 4
Reconciled
A nightly check compares key numbers between systems and flags any drift before customers notice.

Questions
Can we use more than one provider?
Yes. Many stores route by market or payment method, for example Adyen in Europe and PayPal as an extra option. The store records which provider took each payment.
